Don’t Worry, Just Ask!

Worrying is not a new thing.

In fact, it is almost as old as the original sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. When sin came into the world, a bunch of other destructive forces came in as well. One of them was worry. Worry came into being as part of the curse that fell on mankind. As soon as Adam was cursed to work by the sweat of his brow, battling thorns to get a decent crop, worry came in also.

Before the fall of man, Adam had nothing to worry about. He had good ground, seed, authority and The Blessing (power) to bring about every crop he needed without sweat or the chance of failure. He was living a a luxurious garden with all of his needs met.  He had no financial issues because he had plenty to eat until the new crops came in. There was no shortage in the Garden.

The questions people have today, like “how will I make it?
“Will I ever get even?” or “What’s going to happen to me?” are the kinds of questions that came in as a result of the curse, but these are really not the types of questions we should be asking since we have become born-again children of God.

Did you know that it is a sin to worry? In fact God has forbidden us to worry. That’s right, we are not supposed to worry and get anxious about our problems. Worry is forbidden just as the fruit of the tree at the center of the Garden of Eden was forbidden, but we seem to eat up worry whenever the devil shows up with it. We swallow it hook, line and sinker. Have you ever heard of the sucker fish? Some people are suckers for worry. If you have been worrying about your problems, you need to repent right now and begin to pray to God for the answers.

Philippians 4:6 (Amplified Bible)
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Just as worry is a product of the curse, asking God and believing His Word is a product of The Blessing.

Philippians 4:19 (Amplified Bible)
And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

If you need a job, business connections, medicine, favor or open doors you do not need to worry. You need to stop and pray right now and ask God for his help and believe that he will do it.

Matthew 6:8 says
“…for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”

God does not respond to needs, he responds to faith. If God responded to needs, there would be no starving people. There are needs because the world is a fallen place. The corruption of sin, fear, worry and greed have fouled up the system. God’s Kingdom is not fouled up. It is just as full of mercy and grace as ever.

The main need God responded to was man’s need for redemption. Inside of the redemption was the redemption of your entire life. All of your needs are met by the power and resources of an invisible Kingdom. You are going to have to begin thinking on a different level for the Kingdom that redeemed you to meet your needs.

It is very simple. If the curse came in to create your needs, then the Blessing can take care of them. The Blessing is God’s answer for the children of the Kingdom to go on living without worrying.

That does not mean you will not have the opportunity or temptation to worry, but it means you have the opportunity to see the miraculous work of God’s Blessing at work in your life.

What is The Blessing?
The Blessing is what God gave Adam and Eve to live supernaturally in the earth. You could call it ’empowerment’.

Genesis 1:28 (Amplified Bible)
And God BLESSED them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth. (emphasis mine)

God later chose Abram along with his wife Sarai and gave them the same blessing in Genesis 12. Abram later became Abraham and Sarai became Sarah.

Galatians 3:9 (Amplified Bible)
So then, those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God [as partners in fellowship] with the believing and trusting Abraham.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, the blessing came upon your life because of salvation. Jesus paid the price for your salvation. That means, the hard, sinful life of fear, worry and destruction was done away with. All of the elements of the curse have been removed from your life.

Isaiah 53:4 (Amplified Bible)
Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].

Jesus took all of the results of the curse on himself when he went to the cross. He took it all on himself once a for all time for all people. If he has it, what are you doing with it? He does not need your help to carry the load. He died with it so that you don’t have to live with it. Stop this worrying and anxious living right now.

Start asking God to take care of you. If you are not born-again, then ask Jesus to come into your heart. Ask God to forgive all of your sins and make you one of his children. Believe he loves you and wants to show you how much he cares. Then you will see the power of the curse begin to be removed and replaced by the power of the Blessing. If it is an emergency, ask for emergency help and God will provide it.

I heard a song lyric once that said,”It takes a worried man to sing a worry song” or something like that. Well, don’t sing a ‘worry’ song, sing a worship song instead. Worship God and you will find those anxious thoughts and emotions drying up.

Philippians 4:6-7 (Amplified Bible)
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Asking is an act of faith.
You cannot operate in faith and worry at the same time. Either you are speaking and praying your fears or asking God to meet your needs by faith. Asking God to meet your needs properly requires faith. When you have faith, you can estimate what it will take to manage the answer when it comes. When you believe God for a job, you can estimate what it will take to get to and from the job and how much effort it will take to perform it. Faith can make accurate assessments and estimates of what it will take to manage future blessings. If you really believe the answer is going to come, then you can go ahead and measure out the management of the answer. That is as aspect of faith in action.

Since the answer is going to come, you need to be operating in faith in order to receive the answer when it comes. I heard someone say, ‘you cannot manage what you cannot measure.’ By faith you can measure what level of management an answer to prayer will require.

For example, faith can manage money before you have money like how much you will give, what you will purchase or what bills you might pay and so forth. Furthermore, if you were asking and believing God to have children, you could put on paper what might be needed to take proper care of them beyond the obvious. That does not mean that you need to go out a purchase diapers, cribs and clothing at the stage of believing. That might be a bit presumptuous, but you can reasonably estimate what it might take to have an care for a child as an act of faith.

Hebrews 11:3 (Amplified Bible)
By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.

Before God made all of what he made, he designed and planned it all by his faith. He trusted his own power to accomplish it. Now we can trust his power to go on working for us.

Isaiah 40:12 (King James Version)
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

When you learn to practice asking God for things, you will also grow accustomed to measuring out how to best utilize the answers to prayer. You become a person of wisdom. First, you have to practice the process of asking, believing and receiving from God.

Matthew 7:7-8 (Amplified Bible)
Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.
For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, [the door] will be opened.

Jesus is not saying to keep asking repetitively like a beggar as though God is busy or hard of hearing. Jesus is saying to make asking your practice, because EVERY ONE who makes asking, seeking and knocking their practice will reap the benefits of the process of faith. That means every single person who makes this their lifestyle will get their answers.

I was talking with my family one evening about some things we were believing for and my daughter said to me, “Dad, you always get what you pray for.” That was a blessing to me at the time. She noticed how we would pray for something and believe for it and that it would always show up. That’s because I have made it a lifestyle. Instead of a lifestyle of worry and anxiety, I have developed a lifestyle of asking, believing and receiving.

You can begin to develop the same lifestyle today. Resist the old lifestyle of the curse where worry and fear are the norm and begin building a lifestyle and relationship with God based on faith and he will always answer every need – that’s his guarantee to all who are in Christ Jesus!
