Have Dominion
Have Dominion
The word dominion used in Genesis 1:28 is translated to rule tread down or subjugate. It literally means to walk above or walk over. The bible says even more about walking
together as partners and friends. My wife is absolutely my best friend in the whole world. There is no one I would rather love, trust and depend upon more than her! I have discovered through that friendship that dominion works best when we team up against whatever comes up.
Amos 3:3
Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” (Niv)
Proverbs 17:17
A friend loves at all times… (Niv)
Far too many marriages are missing the boat on this especially powerful element. They spend most of their time trying to figure out how to walk all over the other person. It’s where we get the word domineering. In marriage, God’s idea is not that we attempt to dominate each other, but rather that we seek to team up, get in agreement and dominate any negative circumstance. For instance, after my wife and I were first married, the doctors told us we could not have children. My wife had some issues with her ovaries and with her womb that were preventing her from becoming pregnant and carrying a baby. We could have allowed this to devastate our hopes, but we did not. We decided that we would believe God together. We decided that God’s Word was true and final and that if Abraham and Sarah could conceive than so could we. We
began seeking the Lord about His will and we found out God’s Word IS His will! God began to reveal scriptures to us that it is His will for people to have children. Our desire was covered by at least two of the five dimensions covered under Eden’s Blessing.
Some of the scriptures the Holy Spirit revealed to us were:
Psalm 127:3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. (Kjv)
Psalm 127:5
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. (Niv)
Psalm 113:9
He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD. (Kjv)
As I meditated and prayed these scriptures, faith rose up in my heart and I would grab hold of Hazel’s belly and declare that God has healed her body and she is already pregnant NOW, IN JESUS’ NAME! I went beyond hope to faith to trust to victory. Whenever I said “NOW”, I connected the past promise and future hope to that very moment. It was not very long before God healed her body and about two years after that we had our first of three beautiful children.
1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Our prayers were not hindered in that circumstance because I honored and respected her desire for children above the circumstances. I would have fired any doctor that disagreed with us, as a
matter fact I did!
In marriage more than in almost any relationship you can think of is where you encounter the most challenges and circumstances. That is why you need to work together, dream together and pray together.
Mark 3:25
If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. (Niv)
Once we accomplished that through Eden’s Blessing, we started working the Word in other areas of life and the fountain of favor is still flowing strong! We have overcome more problems than we can remember through the power of Eden’s Blessing. You might ask what makes Eden’s Blessing so special. Well, guess what? God never changes. He has been distributing the
same Blessing throughout all the ages of time. Mankind just needs to discover that it is ours. It was designed for us and it belongs to us. It is the fullness of our inheritance. We should learn to desire it above any earthly thing.
Eden’s Blessing Belongs in the Believer’s Marriage
The longer Hazel and I live under the Blessing of Eden in our marriage, the more we have found that the greatest satisfaction of married life, love, friendship and romantic intimacy are not in the naive but passionate days of courtship or even in the glorious celebrations of the honeymoon – it comes from the many years of weathering challenges together, facing problems, praying through the circumstances, learning each other’s expressions of faith. Eden’s Blessing was intended for the use of believers in Christ and their marriages – as we have learned to do. The marriage of the believer should also show the world what God intended unity and strength to be all about. Sadly, many people are married, but not actually together.
Furthermore, marriage is still the strongest model of Christ and the Church in the earth. It is also the strongest model of what it means to become one and walk in agreement to God’s perfect will. Nowhere else in society has this model been displayed so accurately. In fact, since God
hates divorce, as expressed in scripture, then He must love marriage between a man and woman, as He modeled it in the beginning. After releasing this Blessing of Eden over Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:28, God said in verse 31:
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. (Niv)
Lastly, God created (made) Adam and Eve to be Blessed. The Blessing and their making
was all a part of the same event. What a glorious day that must have been when God finished the masterpiece of His creation, the man and woman and set them in authority and dominion above all that He had made. Now it is our turn. Since we have been born again, we have a Covenant right to receive the Blessing of Eden. It is promised to us through the Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth, including the truth where Eden’s Blessing is concerned. Now you can have what they had. You can rise out of any situation if you will just decide that you are going to wear the same Blessing they wore in Eden. Pray right now and talk to God about tthis. Ask Him to reveal it to you as a married couple and allow you to experience it in its fullness. It won’t be long before everything you touch becomes blessed by the Blessing of Eden.
Pray this prayer:
Heavenly Father: We come before you in the Name of Jesus our Lord and High Priest. We thank you for showing us what belongs to us in Your Word and we have decided to ask for the Blessing of Eden for our life and marriage.
We repent of the past strife and any behavior we may have allowed to prevent the Blessing from coming upon us and working in our marriage. We ask for a time of refreshing in your presence under the power of the Blessing of God.
We ask the Holy Spirit to fill us to the full and help us apply these truths we have read to the things we are facing now that we are facing them together. We thank you in advance for every breakthrough and every victory to come as a result of the activated Blessing in
our marriage relationship.
We boldly declare that we are Blessed with the Blessing of Eden, NOW, In Jesus’ name!
From this day forward, we commit to walk in the Blessing of Eden and bring you glory before family, friends and even strangers as you put your Blessing on display in our lives in Jesus’ wonderful name we pray. Amen
