The Power to Become a New Man
Your greatest weakness may hinder you from achieving your deepest desires!
Let’s be honest: we all have weaknesses, especially in our early days of faith. What truly matters is how we respond to these weaknesses, particularly those that consistently derail us. Weakness can be defined as a form of moral or human frailty. Thankfully, God offers us grace and enables us to experience His supernatural power to overcome our limitations.
“Give Me the Supernatural”
2 Corinthians 12:9 states:
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
The power of Christ is supernatural. It can heal diseases, raise the dead, cast out demons, and resolve insurmountable problems. This is the power you need actively working in your life.
Peter and His Weakness
Matthew 14:28-30 shares the story of Peter:
“And Peter answered Him and said, ‘Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.’ So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!'”
Peter’s struggle reflects a common experience among Christians. We often step out in faith, but when we start to notice obstacles and distractions, we begin to falter. This is a typical weakness of our human nature. Our flesh often struggles to understand God’s workings because they can defy the laws of nature.
While walking on water, Peter was momentarily caught in a mindset that focused on the natural world. He initially thought, “If Jesus can do it, so can I.” However, as he became aware of the wind and waves, his fear set in, causing him to sink. Have you ever been walking in faith only to feel that sinking sensation when a challenge arises? That feeling is your fleshly weakness speaking. You must confront it and reject its lies. Hold on to your faith and resolve to see things through.
The Example of Jabez
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 tells us:
“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, ‘Because I bore him in pain.’ And Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So God granted him what he requested.”
When Jabez asked for God’s hand to be with him, he was seeking divine power and direction. Our weaknesses can prevent us from realizing our deepest desires unless we conquer them. When we exchange our weaknesses for God’s strength, we open ourselves to witness His hand at work in our lives.
Covenants are established to cover our weaknesses. At Calvary, Jesus enveloped us in His righteousness and carried our infirmities—this is part of our covenant. Like Peter, who recognized his own weakness, you may struggle with fear. Jesus, however, anointed him without removing that weakness. Peter had to undergo a full conversion and overcome his challenges, and you can too. His deepest desire was to emulate Jesus and walk by faith, yet his weaknesses often got in the way.
Fear as a Weakness
Matthew 16:23 reveals:
“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.'”
Fear allowed Satan to infiltrate Peter’s thoughts, and he will attempt the same with you. Fear led Peter to deny Jesus, and it can sever your connection to faith or misdirect it, resulting in compromise. Compromising your faith only postpones your blessings and jeopardizes your divine assignment. You must eliminate any compromise!
Becoming a New Man
1 Samuel 10:6 promises:
“And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.”
Before Saul lost God’s favor, he was on a righteous path. Chosen as King over Israel, God was with him, and the Holy Spirit was to empower him, enabling him to prophesy alongside Israel’s prophets. This transformation would change him entirely.
Whatever you lack, God already embodies. After His Holy Spirit comes upon you, you can be transformed. Saul needed to grow into a better king, just as you can become a better spouse, parent, minister, or leader through the power of the anointing. You can start a successful business without formal training or manage a nation without prior experience.
1 Samuel 10:7 (Amplified Bible) states:
“When these signs come to you, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.”
In the very next verse, Saul is told that when the manifestations of the anointing occur, he would have the capability to accomplish anything. Oh, how we need to grasp this revelation! When the Holy Spirit enters your life, you gain the power to achieve extraordinary things!
